THE MEANING OF EBISU
Ebisu, one of the Seven Deities of Good Fortune, is the deity of prosperity in one's occupation. In agricultural
villages he is considered a deity of rice paddies, and in fishing villages he is believed to ensure a good catch.
He is also venerated as a deity of the kitchen. Ebisu is usually depicted carrying a sea bream (a symbol of good
luck) under his left arm and a fishing rod in his right hand.
OUR HISTORY
Raised in the restaurant business in Japan, Ebisu proprietor Steve Fujii moved to the United States in the 1960's.
Steve returned to the business in which he was raised in 1976.
Steve began his new career with a successful Japanese restaurant in San Francisco before
branching off on his own in 1982 to start Ebisu.
Ebisu was founded on the concept of combining the freshest ingredients with the art of
sushi; eat with the eyes, taste with the mouth. Steve wanted to delight his patrons with
expertly prepared foods in an atmosphere that was warm, friendly, and fun.
Over the years, Ebisu has won numerous awards for its artfully prepared food, the quality
of its ingredients, and the friendly atmosphere that keeps its loyal customers coming back
again and again.
Come see why so many people from the neighborhood, all over the City and throughout the
Bay Area come to Ebisu to satisfy their sushi desires.
Come and experience the true art of sushi.
